Mobile App to Manage Multiple App Subcriptions
Currently sharing subscriptions is a tedious task with passwords and login credentials and OTPs. Some of the subscriptions need OTP which may or may not come directly to users’ devices. Sometimes a user can have access to the same subscription through different accounts. Along with this, there is always a risk of hitting a limit of logins from different devices.

Values to reflect in the solution
Moving forward, it was necessary to consider 3 main aspects to resolve this problem:

Ease of communication
Users must be able to effectively and easily communicate with minimal effort and time input. Language barriers, time of availability, etc should not prevent sharing not just necessary information, but also favourite shows, recommendations etc.

Reduced dependancy
Sharing should not mean constantly depending on or being depended on for OTPs or passwords etc. The solution must enable people to access the shared subscription services on their own and involve least interaction with others.

Efficient management
Payment alerts, login notifications, resharing, multiple users for same account, usage on different screens etc are important areas that need proper management to ensure a good experience.

Conversations with the Real Users
Before segregating the users into different segments, interviews were conducted with people who use different types of subscription services. Various insights were drawn from these conversations that helped frame meaningful questions for a user survey.

I pay for the Netflix 2 screen account that atleast 6 people use. I could use a platform to share the subscription amount amongst all the users.
I wouldn’t be okay knowing that my subscription credentials are being shared to random people, regardless of whether or not they pay for it.

My kids manage the Amazon prime account and I just use it to watch documentries once in a while or so. I don’t know much about the plans.
I’m so tired of asking for OTPs from my friend’s phone. It sucks that I have bother him even though I pay for half the subscription..

My friends and I split the subscription amount but more often than not, they forget to pay. Would be nice to send a reminder indirectly!
You know what would be cool? If I could recommend watchlists to friends rather than just mentioning it! Like, send them a list of sorts?

All my friends use the same Hotstar account to watch football matches! Someone or the other pays for it. We don’t really keep track of it.

My room-mate has an Amazon Prime account that I use. I just order food for her in return cause I have Swiggy Super activated on my phone
I just paid for YouTube Premium. It would be nice to find someone I know, who could share it with me so we can split the amount!

I am new to paid plans. Can I get a plan suggestion that would recommend ideal plans and suitable people to share it with?
Popular services that are shared are Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Swiggy Super, Zomato Gold, Big Basket, Grofers etc.

The survey aimed at finding quantitative data as to how many people face these problems and majorly which kind of problems. The idea was to target the majority, while still trying to find an inclusive solution for all. In order to get an understanding of how various users use and manage their subscription plans, we wanted 4 major questions answered,
What all subscription based services do you use?
Who pays for the services you use?
Do you use a service without the knowledge of the original subscriber?
Do you worry about your subscription being used and your login credentials being shared without your knowledge?
User research
Interviews were conducted via phone calls and insights were drawn from 5 people who had experienced a natural disaster in the past and/or volunteered to provide services and/or donated resources. The purpose was to map out the methods they took, effectiveness of completing a task and ease of achieving goals they wished to.

"Even though we anticipate these every year, it is still taxing on our mental health. We are constantly living in fear that is not a good feeling."

Vinu, 40

"A lot of people come forth to help but collecting funds is a problem. Most people are skeptical to donate or simply can’t afford to."

Bindu, 45

"The problems don’t persist for more than 2 or 3 days. Property damage and insurance claims are a pain though!"

Prakash, 64
Mumbai
"We are used to the rains and floods. Only very rarely does it get bad. Relief camps are set up and emergency kits are distributed only in rural areas where people need it more."

"Experiencing floods while being away from family would have been an emotionally draining experience if it weren’t for my kind neighbors."

Simplifying a Seemingly Complicated Solution
Considering three main objectives that need to accomplished on the app, the user flow was drafted. All the main objectives of the app are being accomplished in a single user flow.
Use cases addressed:
Add details of a new subscription you have started.
Share an existing subscription plan with a friend/ family.
Splitting the payment among all users.
Dropping a user from the plan.

The Lateral Navigation Approach
The approach used was Lateral Navigation: Tabs. This is best suited for when there are just one or two top level destinations, in this case, User’s Subcrptions and Shared Subscriptions
